A human response to a health crisis.

When my partner, Bridget, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, she suddenly found herself having to carry a trove of cumbersome medical equipment with her everywhere she went; an experience shared by millions of diabetics worldwide.

Taking this equipment is essential. It’s life-saving. But it’s not an elegant experience.

We started KYT to challenge why it can’t be.
Standing for ‘Keeping You Together’, KYT intersects fashion and medicine, with contemporary bags purpose-built to fit the unique needs of diabetes. Making life, and daily care, easier.

During a year of research and refinement, hundreds of diabetics around the world helped inform our designs. Since launching, we’ve sold bags globally, won several design awards and sold-out multiple times. KYT was also one of only five businesses worldwide selected to pitch live onstage at D&AD’s Side Hustle Competition 2019. We’re currently in production with the three new designs you see here. Every bag sold also supports diabetes charities to get crucial supplies to those in need.

“For people with diabetes, KYT Bags are life–changing.”

Good Magazine—

“Helping diabetics everywhere to keep their lives organised without compromising on style.”

Fashion Quarterly—

“The designer bag every diabetic needs in their life.”

Nadia Magazine—

Our design system guided people through each stage of the pandemic. Uniting Kiwis through a human tone and visual language.

SideKYT is our take on a crossbody bag, designed to streamline the daily diabetes experience

Unzip the back, drop it, prop it, and your testing station’s ready for action. Leave all your equipment in place; just test straight from the bag.

Double duty—

Diabetes and daily life can clash. So we split them up. Pack your life essentials in the front and your diabetes necessities in the back. Take one, take both, take life on.

Trash, stashed—

Say goodbye to test strips following you everywhere. Open this nifty little trash pouch with one hand while you test with the other. Snap off, empty out, snap on.

Testing simplified—

StarterKYT uses magnets and some clever folds to create the smallest diabetes case ever

Super–strong magnets and some clever folds keep your equipment a snap away. Open it flat. Snap it back.

Testing simplified—

Unfold, lay out, test away. Leave all your equipment in place; just test straight from the case.

Smaller, smarter—

The smallest diabetes accessory around (we think); about the size of a sunglasses case. Built for your bare essentials with no space to waste.

Unfold in a snap—
